SAL SALIBELLO
Managing Partner
Sal founded the firm in 1978 by providing accounting, tax, and other advisory services to foreign and domestic clients. He has extensive experience in performing financial audits, due diligence reviews, organizational and operational assessments, and tax planning for many different types of organizations. In addition, he advises clients with an entrepreneurial approach on business activities and oversees our international clients with establishing businesses and investments in the U.S. Sal currently sits on the boards of three closed-end mutual funds. He has also sat on the Board of Directors of three other public companies.
GARY BRODER
Senior Partner
Gary coordinates all accounting, auditing and consulting services for the firm’s New York and Los Angeles offices and provides clients with a full range of auditing, accounting, consulting and special services. He joined S&B in 1979 after ten years with a Big Four accounting firm. His domestic and international experience in financial statement audits includes manufacturing, distribution, retail, fuel distribution and services companies, and employee benefit funds and union organizations. Gary is a recognized leader in providing professional services to employee benefit funds.
TONY CALABRESE
Partner
Tony is chairman of our Financial Services and Investment Companies Group and is responsible for many of our major multiemployer benefit fund clients. His experience covers financial statement audits, forensic audits and investigations, expense allocation studies and other special projects. Tony also manages complex agreed-upon procedure engagements at some of the largest entertainment companies in the U.S. He also advises clients on internal accounting and operational control, and accounting issues. Tony recently served on the accountants committee of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and is a member of the AICPA and the New Jersey State Society of CPAs. He was formerly with a Big Four accounting firm.
GEORGE RUSH
Partner
George is an Audit Partner who has managed financial and compliance engagements for Fortune 500 corporations, lending institutions, venture capital groups, and closely held businesses. In addition to financial audits, he manages S&B’s Internal Assurance Services Group and chairs our Sarbanes-Oxley compliance engagements, including the financial and operational investigations of internal audit clients. George also performs highly specialized investigative and forensic services, royalty auditing, agreed-upon procedures and due diligence reviews. Prior to joining S&B, he managed audits and special assignments for start-up ventures to major public companies at a Big Four accounting firm.
ROSS RIZZO
Partner
As Tax Partner and Director of Tax, Ross oversees the firm’s personal, corporate and executive tax planning services. He also oversees our Family Office Services, International Services and Outsourcing of Tax Services groups. He advises entrepreneurial, middle-market and large companies on the tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, international operations, state and local tax planning, and high net worth individual tax consulting. He has particular expertise in providing tax planning and compliance and business advisory services to foreign-owned companies and foreign nationals in the U.S. He was previously a partner with a Big Four accounting firm. Ross joined S&B in 1991.
DAN ZEMAN
Partner
Dan specializes in personal financial planning and corporate tax services. Among the services he provides are income, estate and gift tax compliance and consulting services to high net worth individuals and dual citizens, as well as permanent U.S. residents. In addition, Dan provides executive tax and financial planning strategies. He also advises on M&A, due diligence and transfer pricing. In addition, Dan has significant experience as a lead tax partner on corporate clients ranging in size from owner-operated private companies to Fortune 100 publicly held companies. Dan joined the firm in 2008.
JOSEPH CAPPARELLI
Partner
Joseph has 29 years of accounting, assurance and advisory experience, specializing in servicing clients in a variety of industries including manufacturing, professional services, distribution and resale, wholesale and consumer products, and media and advertising. He has proven skills in the area of accounting, auditing and financial reporting as well as compliance to SEC rules and regulations. Prior to joining S&B, he was a partner at Ernst & Young LLP where he managed, supervised and handled all aspects of servicing domestic and international clients by bringing appropriate resources in the areas of information systems, tax matters, acquisition and joint venture accounting, debt compliance and contractual agreements as well as evaluating capital structure and key annual and quarterly financial indicators. In addition, Joseph has significant experience in the identification and development of new business opportunities, having led Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year Program for the Metro New York area.
FLORENCE GUTIERREZ
Senior Manager
Florence's professional experience includes audits, reviews and compilation of financial statements. She directs our back office accounting operations, working primarily for foreign-owned and start up companies. In addition, she oversees our family office management and administrative services. Florence has extensive experience managing client relationships in industries including the wholesale and retail operations of apparel and footwear, multi-employer pension and health funds, consulting and advisory firms and real estate. Prior to joining S&B, she worked in private industry in the Philippines. Florence joined S&B in 1984.
BOB HAMILTON
Senior Manager
Bob specializes in employee benefit plans -both multiemployer and corporate plans- and not-for-profits, focusing on labor organizations. Working exclusively in this specialized industry, Bob has performed numerous special projects for benefit plan clients including, cash management, the implementation of formal budgeting and reporting processes, major operational studies of various reporting cycles and expense allocation reviews. He has been a lecturer on timely topics in the employee benefits arena. Bob has over 20 years experience and joined S&B in 1994.
JONNY JOSEPH
Senior Manager
Jonny is responsible for management of S&B's Los Angeles office. He joined the firm after spending several years at a Big Four accounting firm and as a financial executive in the entertainment industry. He performs royalty audits and compliance audits; forensic accounting and mergers and acquisitions due diligence procedures, working extensively with in-house and outside counsel compliance audits, internal audits, operational reviews; as well as annual financial statement audits for our employee benefit fund and union clients. His industry experience includes not-for-profit, labor union, and media, as well as retail, manufacturing, construction, real estate, and emerging technologies. Jonny is a CPA and a Chartered Accountant with experience in accounting using International Financial Reporting Standards ("IFRS").
MARIA ISIP
Senior Manager
Maria works with many of our commercial clients and nonprofit organizations and provides financial reviews, audits and consulting services. She has more than 25 years of experience encompassing financial statement audits, compliance audits, SEC registration and reporting, corporate financial management services, agreed-upon procedures, tax filings and examinations, including multi-state corporations. Maria handles several clients whose parent companies are foreign entities headquartered in the UK, Spain, Italy, China and Japan. Maria received her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the University of Maryland and is a CPA in the State of NY.
JIM WETZOLD
Senior Manager
Jim has over 20 years experience providing federal, state and local and international tax compliance, consulting and controversy services to high net worth individuals, corporations, partnerships, LLCs and S-corporations. He also advises pensions and tax-exempt entities, including pension, welfare and other residual plans, along with related labor organizations on tax compliance, consulting and controversy issues. Jim has written and lectured on topics including tax planning for high net worth individuals, taxation of resident and non-resident individuals and accounting for taxes and tax uncertainties. Jim is a CPA and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New York State Society of CPAs. He received his BS in accounting from St. John's University and his Masters in Taxation from Fordham University.
DENNIS SERLEN
Dennis performs the independent technical accounting and reporting reviews for S&B. He handles all reporting and accounting issues with respect to acquisition-related accounting or technical requirements for domestic and international companies, both publicly and privately held. His experience in accounting, auditing, reporting and technical review includes the manufacturing, service, distribution and technology industries and the not-for profit sector. He joined the firm in 2003 after 37 years at a Big Four accounting firm, of which 25 years was as a partner involved in technical review and accounting and auditing consultations.
